Advantest Corporation (TSE: 6857, NYSE: ATE) announced
today the Q8341 Optical Spectrum Analyzer, sales to
begin immediately. The Q8341 is capable of the world's
fastest measurement of short wavelength laser diodes at
0.5 seconds, also addressing market demands in the
blue-violet laser diodes research.
Recently, a
rapid increase in demand for optical desk drives such as
DVD players and CD players has occurred, and forecasts
indicate the amount of DVD sales in Japan may exceed
those of VTR by this year. With this rapid growth in
demand and the falling price of optical desk drives an
improvement is required in productivity and cost of
light laser diodes, being one of the main components of
the optical desk drives.
The Q8341 is the
Optical Spectrum Analyzer for short-wavelength laser
diodes and has an expanded measurement wavelength range
of 350 to 1000 nm. A Fourier transform interferometer
enables the world's fastest measurement speed of 0.5s to
be reached when using this optional high-speed sweep
feature, thus achieving a drastic improvement in the
productivity of short-wavelength laser diodes in
mass-production.
An accurate design of optical
components for controlling both optical outputs from
laser diodes and optical reflection by optical disk is
essential. The Q8341 is equipped with coherence
resolution with a maximum 40mm resolution area and a
much higher resolution level of 0.001mm to control those
optical outputs. This superior design makes the Q8341 an
excellent choice for use in research on next-generation
laser diodes, blue-violet laser diodes, and the
increasingly smaller optical pick ups.
